Post My Ideas

The Loving Habits♡ Survey aims to collect a wide range of ideas about effective ways to support children with diverse needs. We want to learn from your everyday experiences of parenting and supporting children at home, school, and in the community. We also want to hear from you if you experienced challenges in your own childhood.

Can you share your thoughts on:

  • How you have encouraged or supported a child reach their goals or engage more in behaviors that are appropriate for the situation they are in?
  • How you have managed a child's behaviors when they were causing trouble for themselves or bothering other people?
  • Strategies you used to achieve your goals or engage more in behaviors appropriate for the situation you were in?
  • Support or information you would like to have in supporting children, or wish you had in your own childhood?

In particular, we are seeking ideas that can help support children who may be experiencing challenges in their daily lives because their ability to pay attention and activity levels, and those demonstrating behaviors consistent with ADHD.

Understanding children’s behavioral healthcare needs and experiences

Purpose:
The purpose of this survey is to gather ideas about ways to support diverse children. We want to learn from your experiences of interacting with your child(ren) every day. In particular, we want to incorporate your childcare strategies into improving behavioral support for children demonstrating behaviors consistent with ADHD (inattentive, hyperactive, and impulsive behaviors).
Researchers:
This project is being carried out by researchers at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) (Emi Furukawa and Gail Tripp). At the OIST Children's Research Center, we study the causes, behavioral patterns, and management of ADHD.
Information about the survey:
  • t will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
  • Questionnaire content
    We will ask you about your experiences and ideas on the following three points.
    ①Strategies to encourage desired behaviors in children.
    ②Strategies to manage challenging behaviors in children.
    ③Support and information you would like to have for you or your child.
  • In addition, we want to note that:
    ♢The survey includes questions about your child's behavioral characteristics, diagnostic and treatment history.
    ♢We will not ask your name or any other information that would identify who you are.
    ♢You can skip any questions (select "I don't know" or "I wish not to answer”) or stop answering questions at any time. Once you ‘submit’ your responses, we will not be able to delete them.
    ♢We will not be able to respond to questions or concerns submitted via the survey form. You can reach us via the below contact information.
    ♢You are not likely to experience risks beyond those ordinarily encountered in using the internet in daily life.
Data management:
  • OIST researchers receive your anonymous responses and store them on a password-protected server.
  • The experiences and ideas you share with us may be used in academic manuscripts and presentations or posted on the researcher's website (https://lovinghabits.info/en/) for sharing with public. No personal information will be used in publications, presentations, or web postings.
